Representation

Format: The framework of this course relied heavily on the small group of six that were enrolled in the class. Thriving off of one an other, we pushed the limits of the course and  ideas of representation, which culminated in a successful open gallery critiqued by local and university artists.

Every other week we would have two readings to analyze an overview in a student led discussion. On alternate weeks we would compose a physical representation based on the readings and analysis from the week prior.

The final project of the semester to be exhibited was an interpretation that pulled from two to three discussed theories from the semester. Enthralled by the rhetoric, my interpretation found a common thread of thought from which I devised controlled and uncontrolled variables to visually compare three theories. The analysis started with the text, translated into a Grasshopper script. The positive of the script was transformed into a rendered 2D graphic, while the negative of the script was transformed into a physical 3D form, utilizing CNC.
